Tourist/Business Visas

Visiting the United States as a tourist

No one will be admitted without an appointment. Approved visas are issued several weeks after they are requested and appointments are scheduled up to several months after the phone call. If you wish to travel to the United States during the holiday season, please call to make your appointment at least two weeks prior to your expected travel date.

Applicants are interviewed by a Consular Officer. You will have filled out an application, and that application will be reviewed by the Consular Officer.

If you are going as a tourist, you should be able to explain and show how and when you are going to travel, where you will be staying, and how you will be able to afford the trip. Recent bank statements and wage slips, for example, will show that you can afford to pay for a trip.

Visiting the United States on business

In addition to the visa requirements, you will need to show that you have legitimate business to transact in the U.S., how long you plan to stay, where you will be going, and when you will be returning. If your company is paying for the trip, you will need proof that they are supporting your visit to the United States.
