It is recommended that American citizens register with the American Consulate if they routinely visit or currently live in the states of Sonora or Sinaloa. Registration makes it easier for the Consulate to provide assistance in routine or emergency situations, such as the loss of a U.S. passport. Registration information is controlled by the Privacy Act and is not released without express permission of the registrant. You may register on-line and the information will be sent to the Embassy or Consulate responsible for the area you will be visiting or at which you are living. You may also print and fill out the Registration Form and bring it with a copy of the data page of your passport to the Consulate.
