Notarial services are available at the Consulate General for U.S. citizens and to foreign nationals who have business with U.S. organizations. The range of services includes notarization of documents, acknowledgments and affidavits. Proof of identity and a fee is required for each service (please call in advance for fee schedule.) The Consulate General no longer legalizes civil documents such as birth certificates, federal documents such as those executed by federal secretariats, or documents executed by Mexican notaries. Instead, the appropriate Mexican government authority will certify the documents for use in the United States by attaching an “apostille” to the document.
