Shriners, CIMA Hospital, the City of Phoenix and DIF Sonora Establish Accounts for Donations (June 12, 2009)

The U.S. Consulate General has received numerous requests from individuals interested in making financial contributions to help the critically burned victims of June 5th's fire at the ABC Day Care Center in Hermosillo.  In response, we would like to provide the following information as a courtesy and will update this site to include information about other charitable organizations as it becomes available.  Potential donors are free to consider other ways of providing assistance to the victims of this accident.   

1. The Shriners Hospital in Sacramento has established an account specifically for the four children currently receiving treatment there. Those interested in making a financial contribution may contact:

Credit card gifts may be made by telephone at (916) 453-2009 or via the "Donate Now" page on the Shriners website: https://secure2.convio.net/shfc/site/Donation2?idb=104357969&df_id=2880&2880.donation=form1  Under section titled "Gift Information", select "Shriners Hospitals for Children Northern California" in the drop down menu.  Under the section titled "Tribute Information", check the box that reads "Yes, my gift is in honor or memory of someone." In the field below, type "In honor of Alejandra, Hector, Javier and Juan."

2. Hospital CIMA has established a fund to aid the children and family members affected by the fire at ABC Day Care in Hermosillo on June 5th. The Hospital's Director General and Chief Executive Officer Paul B. Mouritsen has stated that 100% of the funds donated will go to victims and their families and that hospital has established an unpaid three person committee to control distribution of the wholly private funds. 3. Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon, Councilman Claude Mattox and officials with the Sister City program have announced the creation of the Hermosillo Fire Relief Fund that will benefit the victims and their families impacted by the recent fire at the ABC Day Care in Hermosillo. All donations will be given directly to Hermosillo's social services agency, Hermosillo DIF (Desarrollo Integral de la Familia). The city of Hermosillo is Phoenix's longest Sister City partnership, which is now in its 32nd year.

4) DIF Sonora (Desarrollo Integral de la Familia) has established bank accounts for the children injured in the fire at the ABC Day Care Center in Hermosillo that remain hospitalized in Mexico.  Those who would like to make contributions to these individuals' accounts will find more information at: http://www.elimparcial.com/EdicionDigital/Ediciones/20090612/PDFS/General_4.pdf
